WELL IT WAS BATH DAY

This wasn't exactly the day I had planned, but to my surprise when I woke up this morning, the precious little puppies we all adore, had turned overnight into terrorists. I had one of my grandaughters Christmas pagents that I was supposed to be attending at 8:30 AM so I thought I will just bop in there, check on them, let the babies out, feed them, then I will deal with the mess when I return. 30 minutes max. Holy Cow was I in for a shock. These precious puppies that have been semi clean, and not very destructive, took a turn toward 'possessed' last night, while I was peacefully sleeping. I have no idea what triggered the tantrums but, we had poo, and mush, and blankets, and pee pads, and toys, soaked in grunge and strung all over the room. The puppies looked like they had wallowed in mud and it wasn't mud. It was just flat gross. I obviously couldn't leave and spent the next two hours in my pj's cleaning up puppies and that mess. Luckily we have the option of hot water that comes from the outdoor hose, it was 68 degrees outside, and I am so grateful I didn't have to bring those poo puppies in my house. I started trying to hose one at a time off, but they run as a pack. I had them all over me, poo and all. Jumping, leaping, hopping, spazing out basically, now wet and poo laden. Yeah, it was not one of our finest moments. Also, as a disclaimer, I had only had one cup of coffee, and what should have been cute...wasn't. I eventually got most of them semi clean, then I started on the room. Will spare you the details, but I pulled out our rather large loud power washer. And all the disinfectant I could find. And a case of paper towels. These babies have now been exposed to power washing in their quarters and the blower, with them right under my feet. Nothing phased the little piranhas. They all just thought it was a continuation of the night of chaos and mayhem. Once it was cleaned and they were semi clean, I tried to see if their momma wanted to come in and feed them. Honest to Pete she got to the gate I had opened, stuck in her nose, sniffed a couple of times and refused to come in. Nothing I could say that would get her in there with them. She turned around and fled, off to chase squirrels with Creede. Now I had to deal with hungry puppies because mama bailed on all of us. After I finally got them fed (they looked like drown rats) the excitement had made them super sleepy. I turned on their fireplace heater, closed the door, threatened them with their lives, smiled inside and went in the house for my new set of dry clothes and coffee. Then the real baths started at about 10AM. The real baths ended at about 2. WE have all had about as much stimulation today as you can imagine and they (we) are exhausted. But they are clean, smell amazing, fluffy and sleeping. Shewww. I have gone through 3 sets of clothes, a million towels, not near enough coffee, but seriously my new friends, I wouldn't change what I am doing for anything in this world. Poo, mush, mayhem and all. I DID realize while giving them each the spa treatment today there are some things you all may want to have on hand for when they arrive. Mayhem can catch you off guard in an instant. Here's to helping you get one up on him.
