THESE ARE THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF PRODUCTS THAT WE USE HERE AT
MAMMOTH DOODLES HOMESTEAD.
So many folks ask us what we use. We've tried to make it easy for you to find these products. Will continually add to this list as people ask us what we use.
Vet recommended and we love it. Your baby will be on this at their arrival. Keeps those poos like you want them. Easy to pick up. If it's not solid and easy to pick up something is going on inside and a quality probiotic is the first place to start. Super easy to admin. Just sprinkle on their food. They love it.
Love, love, love these. They are big babies. They like comfort. If you don't give them comfort they will find it on your couch, on your bed, on your chair, on your lap. If they have their own soft and comfy place you have a better chance of keeping your legs from going numb and your sheets clean. But as they get older we keep these beds close by. If not they quickly become a pile of stuffing.
These are hands down the best bed on the market. And we think we've tried them all. Our adult dogs love them, share them and at times will fight over them, but we are going on 3 years and they have yet to destroy or even damage them. They keep them cool in the summer and off the cold tile floors in the winter.
This is the food your baby will be sent home eating. It is by far our favorite for our large breed puppies. We keep ours on this blend until 8 months old. We like the shredded blend because they like it so much. You can order it through Amazon and put on autoship like Chewys. It's within a few cents of Chewy's price. The shredded blend is really hard to find in a retail store. At least for us.
This is what we use after 8 months. Ours just love the shredded.
Your baby will have been eating this up to about 7 weeks old. If we have litters that are finicky eaters then they stay on this until they leave. We mix half a can to a full serving of the kibble above and eventually wean them off the canned, but very slowly. If you puppy doesn't eat well upon arrival to your home it's good to keep some of this on hand to encourage them to eat well at their new home.
For the money, this is the best one we've found for that will actually hold your new baby. Mammoth Doodles are large and the average carrier often is too small for your puppy to turn around in. (airline requirement) But you can't fly them without being in one. We are huge fan's of the wheels because 20 steps into carrying your puppy in the airport, you will be thinking, gosh I wish I had bought one with wheels.
These are the favorite chew toys for our little guys. We are huge anti rawhide chews for our crew. I have literally saved my shih tsu and one of our saint bernards from choking to death on a raw hide chew. Pieces break off length wise and they get lodged in their throat. It's terrifying. So we switched all of ours to nylabones. They need chew toys or your shoes, furntiure and body parts will become the new thing. We start them with these and move to the larger nylabones as they grow. Love them.
This bone is fight worthy among our crew. So if you have more than one dog you might want to stock up on these. They last forever, and are borderline impossible to destroy. They will eventually gnaw them to nothing, but it takes a long, long time. Our crew loves any bone like this and there are a ton of options on amazon. This is the one we buy, but this link will take you to the page where you can see all your different options.
We've bought 6 extra large of these for the homestead. We are big fans of the aluminum verses the plastic. These are such game changers for housebreaking. Your puppy will come to you very used to going outside via a doggy door when you get him. There are so many options on Amazon for doors. This one is pricey but it's all aluminum and will last. I had just read a ton of reviews where the plastic frame breaks and had to be replaced. With us having a lot of dogs, it means a lot of use, I just didn't want the hassle of cracking plastic.
So many puppy parents have to leave their babies unattended when the go to work during the day. We get that and it's impossible to spend 24/7 with your new little one. One thing that has really helped with the crate training is this corral that can configure a bunch of ways. We zip tie it to the 2 corners of the crate we use and leave the crate gate open so the puppy can come and go. We use disposable pee pads just in case in the corral, and all the comfy bedding inside the crate to encourage them going in there for sleep. No more having to keep them locked in a crate for hours during the day. It also is a great place for time outs. As hard as it is to believe there are just times you need your new bud to not be right under your feet or in your lap and this system works amazing. By the time they can leap over the corral, they are crate trained and love their bed
These come in all sizes and from a bunch
of different sellers on Amazon. We kept losing hoses to our grown dogs. They would puncture them and it just didn't matter how heavy duty the rubber ones were, they could destroy it in a millisecond. We replaced every single hose at the homestead and we couldn't be more thrilled. Going on having these a year and haven't had to replace or repair one yet. Yay Us!! Score!
Well now the bad news. These doodle doll babies like to drink. Alot. Some even like to try and drown themselves in their water bowl or try to dig to the ends of the earth in their water bowl. It is messy and wet and irritating. One of the best remedies while they are learning 'no' is an elevated water bowl. We have so many doodles we use these just for water, but normal folks with one or two could easily use this for both food and water. Game changer!
The disposable pee pads are great for puppies you can supervise constantly. But if you want to leave pee pads in your play pen area and leave the building we suggest washable pee pads to keep the stress to you to a minimum. The disposable ones they shred in about 30 seconds once they hear you close the door. So a couple of these will make life easier, a whole lot less stressful and clean up a breeze. We have hundreds here at the Homestead with all our whelping areas and we like these specific ones a lot.
We have 3 of these in our home. It helps control chaos. But then we have a LOT of dogs, so you may only need one. We've tried them all. Thrown so many in the trash and I just can't imagine life without these now. We only buy 36" tall or higher. Your doodle on his hind legs is huge. And 36" is minimum to keep them on the other side. Love the double locking system on the gate of this particular brand. You can open with one hand so you can hang on to that coffee!!
We had a sherpa bedspread and I couldn't keep our crew off the bed. It's okay one or two at a time but holy moly when they all decide to 'get comfy' it was crazy. So this is such an answer to our sherpa problem. We have leather couches that are taking a beating and this has solved that problem. Put the handle under the cushions and it actually stays in place. Also great in the back of the car for comfort. Take the pillow out and throw it in the washer. Pretty durable for a doodle. :)
If you have a question or need a recommendation, please feel free to ask. We are happy to help with recommendations as we are quite the consumers of pet products at the Homestead. We spend over a $1000 a month just on kibble. It takes a lot to keep this crew humming on all cylinders and most likely we've tried what you are looking to use. Just shoot us an email and give us a day or two and we will have the item you asked about listed. If we have no recommendation, we will reach out to you personally and let you know. But most likely....we do.
